The Best Water sport & Activities in El Gouna ( 2019 List )

Want to keep yourself busy during the upcoming summer months but worry about the heat? Worry no more as you can leave the confines of your air-conditioned home and office to breath the fresh breeze of El Gouna’s climes, gaze into it’s cerulean skies and azure sea as you try an array of watersports offered only in El Gouna!

 

1- Kitesurfing

El Gouna is one of the region’s most popular kitesurfing spots with innumerable annual competitions taking place on its turquoise shores. Want to try out kitesurfing for the first time? You have plenty of options all over El Gouna, the Kite Board Club (KBC) is open from 8am to 7pm daily throughout the year and provides kites and boards alongside instructors to train you among the other services the offer. Element Watersports, located on El Gouna’s shores also offers a selection of services that involve instructors to train novice kiters plus services to maintain kites and boards. You can visit them any time between 9:00am and 6:00pm towards the Red Sea Zone area in El Gouna. Staying at the Movenpick Resort and Spa? You can go to the Kitepeople center in the hotel for an extremely convenient kiting experience as you can leave your room and step out onto the sand and start kiting. Osmosis Kiteboarding is another kiting club at Labranda Club Paradisio hotel where you can immediately walk out of your hotel room and kite all day while enjoying facilities that the hotel has to offer.

 

2- Scuba Diving

Explore the underwater world by diving with one of the several centers in El Gouna. With relatively warm waters throughout the year, the coldest being 19 degrees centigrade, you can always find the opportunity to scuba dive in one of EL Gouna’s several offshore dive sites. When you do dive expect to see a multitude of underwater life, aside from the vividly coloured corals, you can expect to see dolphins, turtles, moray eels, tuna, barracudas, Napoleon wrasse, crocodile fish, stingrays, goat fish, cornet fish, jackfish and scorpion fish, among many others.

If you wish to take your exploration further, you can discover the wreck dives around the El Gouna dive sites. Essential dive sites include Abu Nahas, a popular reef that has instigated many ship wrecks in the past which are very explorable! Other sites of interest include Siyul Bekira, Siyul Soraya, Blind Reef, Ghayna, Posidon Reef, Dolphin House, Abu Galawi, El Fanadir, Umm Gamar and Careless reef. So, how can you book your diving trip today? There are 9 diving centers to choose from, all located in the El Gouna hotels and offer diving trips that are either PADI or CMAS. You can also book snorkeling trips and if you feel ready to dive, you can learn through one of their diving courses which can be arranged in the convenience of the hotel swimming pool.

 

3- Wakeboarding

Open daily from 9:30am to 6pm, Sliders Cable Park is an international standard Cable Park and one of the largest Olympic Standard Cable Parks Worldwide. Among its many features are the clockwise and anti-clockwise cable 2x 5.0, which also includes the 2x Easy Ride 2.0 System. This exclusive cable park was designed in collaboration with one of the world renown leaders in cable park building, Rixen Cable Ways.  With a variety of obstacles and trained staff ready to serve professional wakers or beginners, the park will provide you an adrenaline rush that is hard to replace. The park has more than just wakeboarding, it also includes opportunities to play a game of volleyball, chill in their spacious pool, or enjoy some of the meals offered.

4- Sliders Aqua Park

At the Cable Park but want a more relaxed activity? How about walking over to the Sliders Aqua Park, located on the same premises as Sliders Cable Park. Jump, tumble, roll and play with all family members and friends as you try out their several obstacles which include trampolines, jungle bars, cliffs, fun pillars, balance beams and ramps. The Sliders Aqua Park is open to children and adults, starting from 6 years old, every day from 9am to 5pm. Concerned about safety? Don’t worry as 10 minutes from each one-hour session is spent informing and guiding guests on safety procedures in the Sliders Aqua Park.

5- Stand Up Paddling (SUP)

Prefer staying on the surface? You can easily rent a board, oars and placidly tour the lagoons that weave through El Gouna as you enjoy the cool breeze and the sun that warms your shoulders. Quickly hop over to The Clubhouse in Kafr El Gouna, Labranda Club Paradisio, and some of the kitesations all around El Gouna to experience this activity.

6- Fishing

Want to unwind over the Red Sea waters? You can roam the gentle waters of the Red Sea with one of El Gouna’s boat renting providers. Try Yellow Fin Fishing in El Gouna’s Abu Tig Marina or Cinderella in El Gouna’s Sheraton Miramar Hotel and Movenpick Resort and Spa, or Hook, Line and Sinker located in Downtown El Gouna to organise a full-day fishing trip to some of the nearby fishing sites around El Gouna and Hurghada. Want to include the family? 7- Lagoon Trips

Prefer a more laidback experience? Try joining one of the lagoon boat trips offered by several providers around El Gouna that will take you on a tour throughout El Gouna’s serene lagoons, which allows you to view some of the most popular sites and idyllic homes.

8- Snorkeling and Trips throughout the Red Sea

You can hop onto the Oceana Diva catamaran that offers sailing boat trips and can take you and all your family on a memorable trip snorkeling or simply watching the sunset. You can easily unwind as you glide through the Red Sea waters to reach some of the popular snorkeling spots in the Red Sea, which can include the sighting of dolphins, if you are lucky!

Zeytouna Beach is also perfect for snorkeling from the shore: the long jetty gives you access to a coral reef where colourful fishes will swim around you.

With all these choices you can wave away the heat and cool down with one of El Gouna’s varied watersport activities.
